Gamification works fine: just not where and how we planned!

I read a thought-provoking article by Peter Carlin on the LogicEarth blog with some refreshing insights on the hot topic of gamification.

He reminds us of the Gartner prediction in 2012 which seems to be coming true that: “by 2014, 80 percent of current gamified applications will fail to meet business objectives primarily because of poor design”

Peter goes on to observe that there are many excellent examples of effective gamification in fields beyond learning such as the plethora of health apps and devices and how they help us be more healthy using fun and compelling gamification techniques.
